Almost time for a Chorus Celebration!

The 3rd and 4th Grade Chorus designed and painted shirts for their upcoming musical. The Chorus will perform "Celebrate You and Me" on Wednesday, May 12 for their families and classmates.

Give Us More Music!

Tuesday afternoon Early Childhood and Lower Division student crowded into the gym for an interactive musical show by African Kuumba Dancers and Drummers. We all sang and danced as we learned about African traditions and music.

Wednesday and Thursday we welcomed two more chamber groups from USF. Students loved listening to the sweet sounds of Beethoven. After each performance students were "tested" on their musical knowledge. Both groups of musicians said they were impressed on the answers they received and would loved to come back and preform for such sophisticated audiences.

The Start of a Beautiful Week

Lower Division students and faculty were serenaded this morning at Town Meeting. Tati B., Angela C., Laura P., and Chelsea R. sang a lovely rendition of "I Feel Pretty" to the delight of all.

If you were walking around the Lower Division later in the day I'm sure you heard the soft sounds of a visiting chamber group from USF. Students were treated to private concerts and impressed the group with their insightful questions. Groups from USF will also visit campus on Wednesday and Thursday to share their music.

What is Chamber Music?

This week many 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders took a trolley through the streets of Vienna in search of the answer. Students learned about music, art, and even a little bit of German on their adventure. Thank you Ferdinand and Dr. Brahms, for our tour on the Ring Strasse!

Third Graders have a blast with Garage Band

The third graders explored instrument sounds and music genres in Garage Band. Each group will compose music to enhance their explorer movie. Students were able to gain an understanding of what style of music would help to convey the feel of their short film.

Second Graders are Writing Again!

The Second graders are working in groups to compose music to a poem they learned in class. Students were challenged to write a singable melody on the xylophone using the "C" pentatonic scale. It was inspiring to see students working together and having so much fun creating.
